About the Artist

Artist and educator Beth Ammons is originally from a small town in North Carolina that borders The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The natural beauty of this area inspires a strong artistic community through which she learned painting, sewing, and craft techniques.  She studied Biology and Art at Wake Forest University and went on to work in museums and research labs after graduation. Since earning a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Tufts University, she has taught Biology, Art, and gifted enrichment. She taught in Boston, Atlanta, and Chicago before moving back to the mountains where she now teaches K-4th grade students at Sand Hill-Venable Elementary School. She still loves to draw and paint, and she finds inspiration from local hiking adventures.  Art has always given her a passion for learning, and she hopes her students have a similar experience!
